THE GOLDEN FLOWER IS OPENING - SHOLA CARLETTI
Date :
01-Jun-2010
Description :
The main component of this works is gold, a powerful and dense colour, both physical and spiritual, that transpires lively, bright, transparent and fragile shades. On the one hand it is thick, and doesn't allow the light to go through it. On the other hand it is fluid, transparent and variable as the light reflections on the glass. We are humans and our whole life is a mixture of emotions, feelings and memories that respond either to our reactivity or inactivity to events and interactions with other entities and lives. The answer to the meaning of our everyday life lies only in the observation and awareness. And while I paint I watch my duality, sky and the earth, black and white, emotion turmoil and stillness...In all of this lies a sort of labyrinth of experienced lives, a heritage of memories to be defended by the time attacks. Art has by all means the role to raise on the surface what remains of our whole life, what is inside our inner self, what is most of the time hidden in some far corner and lays unexpressed.

Tapah
Date :
01-Oct-2009
Description :
The underlying theme of karma is reflected in all of Rekha Shivdasani's work. Her recent artworks have been based on the concept of tapah (tapasya). Her works are largely abstract or semi abstract. Symbolism and sub-textual meanings are closely woven into the strokes and figures. Interestingly, she has used colour as a symbolic tool. Initially, works are in red and black. These are bold, vivacious, and celebrate life. The colours evolve into the browns, which are earthy tones. Next come the meditative shades, blue and grey. Finally, my paintings take on a white hue, symbolic of the ultimate destination reveals the artist. (see profile)

Reflections
Date :
01-Sep-2009
Description :
Harisadhan Dey has travelled a long-way since his student days, capturing the essence of life in common people and fascinated by the beauty of nature; Indian traditions and culture in an unadulterated mode, thus experiencing life in its myriad form and beauty. Dey firmly believes that the physical reflection of one's inner self is reflected through one's face. So, the face with different expressions like peace, tranquillity, innocence always is a great source of inspiration for him. Also, the influence of traditional Indian colour aesthetic and reflection of Hindu spiritual thought inspires him to work within themes close to the masses in rural and folk societies.
